Hooray Spring is almost here

After a Fall/Winter season that has been anything but forgetable.  Except maybe for a few nice fish.  Victor Allen and Mike Stern with lunker fish in September and Don Perez with 6 lb 8 oz lunker bass.   Don caught his at Piru in February on a dropshot.  I think Spring will be a welcome change.  We will keep you updated.

08/09 Angler of the Year

Victor Allen has done it again.  He has won Angler of the year for the sixth straight year.  It seems almost impossible but, Vic just goes out and does what he does best day after day.  He caught 58 tournament fish for a total weight of 115 lbs and 14.5 oz.  Runner up Ed Snell had a very good year also with 60 fish for a total weight of 108 lbs and 15.5 oz.  Ed led Victor for part of the year but, just couldn't hold him off.  In 3rd place Don Perez had a good year with 39 fish.  That gave him a total of 86 lbs and 7oz.  And winning Top Non-Boater was Phil Hines with 85 lbs and 15.5 oz.

08/09 Club Top Eight

This years Top Eight was held at lake Havasu in late October.  With the exception of mid Sunday morning the weather was very nice.  Sunday saw that famous big water wind come up.  The fishing however was not as nice, although there were some big catches made.  Phil caught a 4 lb 1 oz Smallmouth, a great fish by anybodies standards.  The format of this years Tournament was one of fun rather than who was 1st or last.  The money that the club usually uses for prize money was used to offset everyone's expences.  Althought there were several side pots the idea was to just have fun.  Everyone camped at the lake.  Ed Snell generously made dinner both days serving steak, pork tenderlion, shrimp coaktails and many other tastey dishes.  Thanks Ed.  Next year the club is going to do a Team Tournament.  This will allow everyone to compete, altought the details still have to be worked out.  Details will be made available latter in the year.

09/10 Angler of the Year

Nothing much has changed lately.  Look for the spring tournaments to really get things moving.  We have now fished 5 tournaments in the 09/10 tournament season. Victor Allen has the lead.  With a little over 35 lbs  he has a good lead over 2nd place Phil Hines at almost 27 lbs.  Mike Stern is right behind Phil but, this early in the year.  I am sure we will see many changes over the year.
